Primordial Buddha (2014) 36"x36"
(printed dimensions variable)
Evoking the careful placement of a religious tanka painting or mandala, Primordial Buddha depicts Tapihritsa, who lived in the 18th century. He achieved enlightenment at his death, entering a totally-purified state symbolized by his white and clear-like crystal body from which the rays of the rainbow emanate. Strong contrasts of blue and gold, layered between subtle circular patterns, combine to form a striking image rooted in Bon Buddhist iconography.
